Taylor Archer Grabs First Victory in Season Finale
Miller Motorsports Park, Toole, Utah - (August 7, 2011) Taylor Archer drove a flawless race to grab victory in Race 10 of the 2011 F1000 Pro Series sponsored by Goodyear Racing Tires, Williams Racing Developments and George Dean Engines with partner sponsors Hyperco, Jongbloed Racing Wheels, Ballistic Performance Components, Elizabeth Jackson Artwork, Kool Coat, and Geartronics North America.
Russ Werner fresh off his victory in Saturday's race took his second pole position of the weekend becoming the only competitor to get below 1:23 when he clocked his best time of 1:22.968. Taylor Archer filled out the front row of the grid nearly a half a second back of Werner with a best time of 1:23.547.
As the green flag dropped just before 2pm on a warm sunny afternoon under clear blue skies Werner went straight for the lead as the entire field exited cleanly through the first corner without incident. As the two passed through the turn four Scream corner Archer drew up alongside Werner and took the lead under braking for the Black Rock Hairpin at the end of the back straight. Further back in the field Mitchell made his way past Vollum with both N.Belling and Palmer scrambling past LaBrie.
At the end of lap one the order was Archer, Werner, Mitchell, Vollum, Belling, Palmer, LaBrie, Biner, M.Belling and Ash. As the field would their way onto the back straight for the second time Werner retook the lead at exactly the same corner that he had lost it on the previous lap. From there the battle for the lead would become a tight one with only couple of seconds separating the top five cars of Werner, Archer, Mitchell, N.Belling, and Vollum as they jockeyed for track position. Further back another battle ensued consisting of Palmer, LaBrie and Biner who were all separated by less than a second.
As the race continued Werner began to slowly draw away from the others in the lead group eventually expanding his lead out to five seconds by the end of lap eight. Just a it looked to be a repeat of the previous day's race Werner was suddenly in the pits with what he thought was a locked rear brake. He would return to the race to drive a couple of exploratory laps before finally calling in day.
This left Archer in front with a slight lead over Mitchell. Mitchell was driving with a hastily repaired header after it had cracked during the morning qualifying. Working quickly he only just made it to the grid prior to race start. After Werner's exit and with Mitchell hot on his heels Archer began to really crank up the effort as his car was seen to power slide through the West Ten corner coming onto the front straight.
As Archer began to stretch out his lead ever so slightly over Mitchell the battle for third heated up as a stalking Vollum finally managed after several laps to force his way past N.Belling to take the final podium position.
Championship leader Dave Palmer needing only to keep his cool and finish to secure the driver's title followed behind the dueling duo of Vollum and N.Belling. His well timed drive to fifth place secured him the 2011 Driver's Championship.
John LaBrie continued his steady improvement throughout the year finishing sixth. Terry Biner back in his car for the first weekend since breaking his hand at Buttonwillow in race two back in April drove well to finish seventh. Christopher Ash brought the lone Speads F1000 entry into eighth with M.Belling and Russ Werner who failed to finish rounding out the finishers.

Werner Takes Convincing Win at Miller
Miller Motorsports Park, Toole, Utah - (August 6, 2011) Russ Werner piloted his Phoenix F1000 race car to a convincing win in Race 9 of the 2011 F1000 Pro Series sponsored by Goodyear Racing Tires, Williams Racing Developments and George Dean Engines with partner sponsors Hyperco, Jongbloed Racing Wheels, Ballistic Performance Components, Elizabeth Jackson Artwork, Kool Coat, and Geartronics North America. The field of F1000 competitors took the green flag race under clear skies and warm temperatures. As the field poured into the first corner Nicholas Belling took the lead from pole sitter Werner. Further back, Championship leader Dave Palmer starting in seventh position attempted to take in inside line into the corner in the hope of making up some positions only to find Randy Mitchell already there. The two made contact with Palmer spinning and falling back to the tail end of the field. Mitchell suffered some minor suspension damage in the fracas but was able to continue without losing any positions but would spend the race fighting handling issues as a result.
Nicholas Belling's stint at the front would be short-lived as Werner quickly took back the position and began to pull away from the rest of the field. As Werner streak off into the distance the battle for second heated up as N. Belling, Archer, Vollum, and Mitchell all ran virtually nose-to-tail for several laps with each trying to overtake the other and move up in position. As Belling lead this train his car began to develop an understeer condition which allowed one driver after the other to finally force their way by dropping him back to fifth where he would finish.
At the back Palmer drove in a valiant effort to make up ground after his first corner spin left him in last place and fighting to keep his lead in the championship. Driving consistently quick laps he evenually caught up to and overtook M.Belling at about half-distance. As he closed on LaBrie to take another position LaBrie spun with Palmer narrowly avoiding contact. Palmer would finally get pass LaBrie a short time later to finish in 8th place.
Terry Biner in a Firman and Chris Ash in the lone Speads-Rilltech competing in his first F1000 Pro Series event both drove cautious and uneventful races to finish 6th and 7th respectfully.
Werner crossed the line in dominating fashion 16 seconds in front of his nearest competitor. Taylor Archer took second place honors with Larry Vollum rounding out the podium finishers in 3rd.
With Nicholas Belling's fifth place finish and Dave Palmer's eighth place, Palmer takes a 10 point lead into the season's final race on Sunday. Nicholas Belling needs to win with Dave Palmer finishing no higher than 8th to have a chance of wrestling the title away from Palmer.

Flag Confusion helps Vollum to Victory at Portland
Portland International Raceway -(July 3, 2011) Larry Vollum assisted by some confusion over a white flag took his first win of the season in Race 8 of the 2011 F1000 Pro Series sponsored by Goodyear Racing Tires, Williams Racing Developments and George Dean Engines with partner sponsors Hyperco, Jongbloed Racing Wheels, Ballistic Performance Components, Elizabeth Jackson Artwork, and Geartronics North America.
The race began under partly cloudy skies and warm conditions. The field of F1000 taking the green flag some 30 seconds ahead of the main field of national competitors.
Pole sitter Vollum lead the field through the chicane, but was quickly overtaken by both Archer and Pancea. As the field came around after the first lap it was Pancea in the lead closely followed by both Archer and Vollum. Entering into the chicane on the 3rd lap Archer dived into the inside taking the lead from Pancea.
The racing up front became fast and furious for the next several laps as the three ran in a very tight pattern with each driver within striking distance of each other with Archer desperately trying to hold off Pancea and Vollum.
As the race worn on Pancea found himself in trouble. Having made a gamble on setup, Pancea now found the car slower and not as well behaved as the day before. Vollum exploited this as he copied Archer's move on Pancea into the chicane. Pancea knew he was in trouble but there was nothing he could do but hold on as he continued his slide down the field.
After yesterday's loose sprocket issue Nicholas Belling found the car more to his liking and begin to pull his way up through the field from his sixth starting position. As he took over third place from the falling Pancea he was several seconds behind the lead duo of Archer and Vollum. Lap after lap saw him close the gap between him and Vollum until he was just more than a second back.
Up front Vollum was giving Archer everything he could to get pass with Archer continuing to deny Vollum the lead with every move Vollum tried.
It was all to be taken completely out of the hands of the drivers. As tow trucks rolled to assist a stalled car from a competitor from the main national group, the white flag came out. Archer, after being away from racing for more than a year, mistook the the white flag for having the same meaning as a yellow flag. As he slowed for the incident he was passed by both Vollum and N. Belling. As Archer realized his mistake he tried to regain position but it was too late. The damage had been done and the race was lost.
Vollum continued on to take the checkered flag and his first victory with N. Belling several seconds behind. Archer followed the two across the line in third.
The remainder of the field followed with Russ Werner in fifth, Dave Palmer adding to his points total in 5th, Pancea in sixth, with Oberndorf seventh. After dueling most of the race with M.Belling, LaBrie took eighth, with M.Belling ninth, Rice with his still diabolical car tenth, and Pahls failing to finish in eleventh.

Pancea goes Flag-to-Flag to win at Portland
Portland International Raceway -(July 2, 2011) Lucian Pancea took his first win of the season in race 7 of the 2011 F1000 Pro Series sponsored by Goodyear Racing Tires, Williams Racing Developments and George Dean Engines with partner sponsors Hyperco, Jongbloed Racing Wheels, Ballistic Performance Components, Elizabeth Jackson Artwork, and Geartronics North America.
Pancea who started on pole was never headed as he lead from flag-to-flag to take adominant win.
Under clear blue skies and warm temperatures, the F1000 field took the split start some 40 seconds ahead of the main field of national competitors.
At the end of the first lap it was Pancea leading with Oberndorf leapfrogging both N.Belling and Vollum at the start running second. Close behind was Vollum followed by Palmer, N. Belling, and the rest of the field. Pancea, Oberndorf, and Vollum were running nose to tail and already begining to stretch out some distance between them and fourth place runner Palmer who had also managed to advance past N. Belling. The running order was Pancea, Oberndorf, Vollum, Palmer, N.Belling, Werner, Archer, LaBrie, M.Belling, and Rice.
As the cars exited the chicane Oberndorf suddenly slowed with electrical issues finally rolling to a stop midways towards turn 3. This brought out a double yellow caution that bunched the field up. As the the caution ended on lap 4 and the green flag came out Pancea streaked out from the field followed closely by Vollum.
For the next several laps Vollum crowded Pancea's mirrors looking for an opening to get by. Lap after lap Vollum would pull alongside Pancea heading down into the chicane only to find Pancea arriving just ahead of him.
The battle was interrupted again by a second double yellow caution on lap 7. As the pace car came out of the pits and bypassed the chicane it missed picking up race leaded Pancea and instead it was Vollum just behind the pace car. This lead to several laps where Pancea was forced to slow down before the pace car finally picked up the race leader.
As the green flag flew for the second restart N. Belling began to slow with a mechanical issue on the back straight. The bolts holding the sprocket had loosen and with the chain tension gone he began to lose drive. Evenually losing all drive in the car forcing his retirement.
Up front Pancea and Vollum resumed their battle. Each time Vollum pulled alongside at the chicane Pancea managed to fend him off. As the race progressed Pancea managed to use traffic to his advantage to pull out just enough of a lead over Vollum to keep Vollum behind him going into the chicane.
As the Checkered flag fell it was Pancea taking the win with Vollum less than a second back with the remainder of the field spread out over the course by several seconds.
Championship leader Dave Palmer drove a solid race to third to consolidate his championship points lead, Russ Werner moved up two positions from his sixth starting position to claim fourth. Taylor Archer competing in his first series event and his first race in more than a year took fifth, with Rod Rice limping his ill-handling car into sixth. John LaBrie continued to improve his driving finishing a seventh with Mark Belling rounding out the field of runners in eighth. Herman Pahls declined to take the race start.

JR Osborne Battles to Victory in Race 6 of the 2011 F1000 Pro Series
Pacific Raceways (May 30, 2011) - JR Osborne once again battled adversity to take his third victory of the season in the 2011 F1000 Pro Series sponsored by Goodyear Racing Tires, Williams Racing Developments and George Dean Engines with partner sponsors Hyperco, Jongbloed Racing Wheels, Ballistic Performance Components, Elizabeth Jackson Artwork, and Geartronics North America.
Osborne of Castle Rock, Colorado spent the majority of the race locked in battle over first place with Canadian Kyle Oberndorf, with Osborne evenually prevailing to take the win and close within four points of Dave Palmer for the lead in the 2011 Driver's Championship.
Lucian Pancea who had set a blistering time of 1:18.308 to take pole position got off to a rough start after falling back to third at the start. As the cars came by to complete the first lap the order was Osborne, Oberndorf, Belling, Pancea, Palmer, LaBrie, and Cooper.
As the race continued Belling began pushing his way through from his third starting position passing Pancea on the first lap, Oberndorf on the third, then taking the lead from Osborne on the sixth. He continued to lead for the next couple of laps and looked secure in the lead until coming into the turn eight hairpin just prior to the main straight where he spun nearly taking Pancea who was following some ways behind with him.
Pancea, who had to make a quick tire change just prior to the race start due to a flat tire found himself with another tire problem as he battled a deflating tire most of the race before managing a very respectful third under difficult driving conditions. Belling evenually collected himself to continue on and finish fourth.
This left Osborne back in the lead with a closely following Oberndorf right behind. The racing got hot and heavy at the front as the laps wound down with Osborne evenually taking the flag just in front of Oberndorf.
Championship leader Dave Palmer continued to improve throughout the weekend setting a personal best time during the race. His six points for fifth place keeps him in the lead in the Driver's Championship with 43 points with points yet to awarded from Race 5 awaiting the outcome of the JR Osborne fuel protest by Nicholas Belling.
Series Newcomer Glenn Cooper continued to find his way around the twisting Pacific Raceway track. His 1:19.953 qualifying time put him right in with the fastest drivers in the series. But unfortunately he was not able to carry that over to a good result in the race. While attempting a pass on Palmer in turn one, he carried too much speed into the corner and wound up off track in the gravel trap runoff area. By the time he got re-started the main field of national competitors had passed him by. He spent the most of the race winding his way past them before finally catching LaBrie at the back of the F1000 field to take sixth place.
John LaBrie continued his weekend woes with sound as once again he found himself on the receiving end of the orange meatball flag. Dispite his continued run ins with officialdom LaBrie did managed what he called a "great race" to finish 7th.

Results in Holding Pattern in Race 5 of the 2011 F1000 Pro Series
May 29, 2011 (Kent, Wa) – The F1000 Pro Series was thrown into a holding pattern as protests flew after Race 5 at Pacific Raceway of the 2011 F1000 Pro Series sponsored by Goodyear Racing Tires, Williams Racing Developments, and George Dean Racing Engines, with partner sponsors Hyperco, Jongbloed Racing Wheels, Ballistic Performance Components, Elizabeth Jackson Artwork and Geartronics North America.
JR Osborne who looked set to take his third victory of the season instead found himself having to wait 3 weeks to get confirmation of his win after third place finisher Nicholas Belling filed a protest against Osborne's use of fuel.
The field took the split start from the from of the main national group under cold, cloudy skies and ran nearly incident free only two minor cautions for incidents from cars in other classes. Osborne lead away from the start leaving N.Belling and Oberndorf to mix it up for second followed closely by Mark Belling, Lucian Pancea, John LaBrie, and Dave Palmer. As the race progressed, N. Belling suffered from poor handling as the camber bolts on his car came loose which dropped him back from second place runner Kyle Oberndorf, who likewise was forced to back off the final laps as his fuel ran too low.
Lucian Pancea who suffered from several issues throughout the weekend including a burnt exhaust valve in the first qualifying session which required an engine change found himself back in fourth with Dave Palmer who sat out the second qualifying session and spent most of the race running alone on track a very lonely fifth. Mark Belling had fallen back to sixth from his fourth starting position after finding himself lost in heavy traffic. John LaBrie continued his difficulties from qualifying with sound and was meatballed yet again but after a quick dash into the pits to work on the car the issue was cleared up and he was able to continue on finishing seventh.
After the race in the post-race impound third place finisher Nicholas Belling filed a protest against race winner JR Osborne over fuel used by Osborne during the event. The protest was duly filed by the race organizers which places the official results for the race on hold while the protest winds its way through the process.

Osborne who looked for a time to be done for the weekend after crashing out in yesterday's race after getting tagged by another competitor made a stellar comeback to win convincingly over second place finisher Dave Palmer.
The morning qualifying session saw Osborne take pole position from Nicholas Belling by just over a second. John LaBrie vastly improved his times over yesterday's qualifying to finish third fastest with a time of 1:49.591, followed closely by Dave Palmer clocking a best time of 1:49.649 and Mark Belling with a 1:51.045.

The race began under cloudless blue skies and warm temperatures. The field of F1000 taking the flag some 30 seconds after the main field of national competitors. Nicholas Belling, race 3 winner from Saturday challenged Osborne from the flag eventually finding his way through on lap two down the back straight leading up to the Lost Hills corner. As in the previous day's race the two fast front runners came up to the tail end of main field within a lap of race start. As Belling followed closely by Osborne came up on to competitor running in another class at the hairpin at the end of lap 2, as he mis-calculated the corner and slid wide. Osborne following closely behind had nowhere to go and made contact with Belling, with the result that the nose of Belling's Firman was knocked off in the collision. A trip down pit lane and a conference with the crew confirmed that the day was over for Nicholas Belling.
Osborne continued on and despite a bent push rod from the contact he managed to to extend his lead taking the checkered flag and his second victory of the season.

Amongst the drivers participating this weekend include Thunderhill winners JR Osborne and Dave Palmer in their Stohr F1000 race cars. Alongside them is John LaBrie in the lone Phoenix being supported this weekend by Phoenix designer Dustin Wright, with the Firman West team of Nicholas and Mark Belling along with Terry Biner and Rod Morley making up the Firman contingent However late Friday Rod Morley was forced to withdraw from the weekend due to illness.
Saturday morning practice saw the cars take to the track under blue skies and cold windy conditions. The cold track conditions caught out Terry Biner who hit the outside pit wall near the pit entry early in session, which put him out for the weekend with a broken hand when the steering wheel whipped around in his hand on impact.
The Firman of Nicholas Belling set the early pace setting a new overall track record for the 3.10 mile Buttonwillow #25ACCW track at 1:42.965.
Saturday qualifying began under clear skies and calmer winds than the earlier practice session with the cold breeze from the morning giving way to warmer temperatures. Nicholas Belling, continuing his form from the morning practice took pole position with a time of 1:43.918. JR Osborne despite brake issues and ride height difficulties managed second quickest time of 1:45.918. Race one winner Dave Palmer took third with a 1:50.954 followed by the improving Mark Belling clocking a best time 1:51.182. John LaBrie in lone Phoenix rounded out the field with a time of 1:59.395.

The field of Formula 1000 cars lined up for the split start approximately 30 seconds behind the main field of national race competitors which consists of multiple run groups from different car classes. Pole sitter Nicholas Belling in his Firman jumped out to an early lead closely followed by the Stohr of JR Osborne. Following behind this duo were the cars of Dave Palmer and Mark Belling with John LaBrie following closely behind.
The duel between the two protagonists at the front looked to be shaping up to be a mighty one with Osborne closely shadowing Nicholas Belling's every move on the track. By the end of the first lap Belling and Osborne had already caught the tail end of the field of national competitors up front and began mixing it up amidst them.
Halfway around the second lap the two came up to a Formula Atlantic while entering into the ultra quick sweeper Riverside. Belling managed to squeeze by the Atlantic leaving Osborne to desperately shoot for a gap between the Atlantic and the corner in an attempt to stay in contact with the fast moving Belling. The two cars touched and both spun off into the deep soil just off to the inside of the corner. Just like that, Osborne's day was over, leaving Nicholas Belling to continue on, now with a sizable lead over second place Palmer.
There was still plenty of action back in the field as Palmer and Mark Belling were running separated by less than a second. Over course of the next several laps the two stayed glued together as one with Mark Belling attempting several optimistic moves a soon as the slightest opportunity to get by arose. John LaBrie remained nearby but never threaten the two and eventually fell back before retiring with a broken chain drive.
Back up front Nicholas Belling continued his assault on the track has he pulled out his lead ever further with each lap that passed. Twenty-five seconds on lap seven, thirty-six seconds on lap ten, forty-seven seconds on lap twelve. He was completely hooked up.
As the race continued on Mark Belling began to lose track of Palmer as the two wound their way through traffic. They were to finish in that position with Palmer taking the checker for a sound second place several seconds in front of Mark Belling.

JR Osborne leads flag-to-flag to take victory in Round 2 of 2011 F1000 Pro Series
JR Osborne drove his Stohr F1000 car from pole postition to first place leading throughout to take victory at Thunderhill Raceway in Round 2 of the 2011 F1000 Pro Series presented by Goodyear Racing Tires, Williams Racing Developments, George Dean Racing Engines with partner sponsors Hyperco, Ballistic Performance Components, Jongbloed Racing Wheels, Elizabeth Jackson Artwork and Geartronics North America.
Taking the green flag under cloudy and very windy conditions JR Osbourne stretched out to an early lead and was never threaten during the race. Nicholas Belling in his Firman drove from his fourth starting position to take second place honors with Round One winner Dave Palmer in his Stohr rounding out the podium in third place.
Gary Hickman, who was force to start at the back of the field due to a sound violation in qualifying and only just made the grid after a last second sound check worked his way through the field to finish fourth in his Edge Engineering F1000. It was a good result for Hickman and his crew they spent a good deal of the previous night both at the track and back at the hotel room patching bodywork back together after the incident with Russ Werner in the previous day's race.
Back in the pack Rod Morley suffered a spin on the opening lap in the tricky off-camber turn 3 which put him out of contention. A couple of laps later Rod Rice running third spun in turn five while attempting to hunt down second place Nicholas Belling thereby ending his chances for a good finish. After a standing yellow a couple of laps later so workers could retrieve the head surround bodywork from the middle of the main straightaway that had flown off Nicholas Belling's car both Rice and Morley got their cars restarted by the track crew and resumed their race, however by this time several laps down.
Both Terry Biner in his Firman and John LaBrie now in the lone Phoenix entry drove an uneventful race to finish behind fourth place Hickman. Mark Belling likewise drove a steady but uneventful race to finish behind LaBrie.
Randy Mitchell had been looking at a decent finish to go with his third place result from Saturday's race when he got tangled up with a CSR in the ultra quick turn 8 sending him off course and bringing out the final full course yellow of the day. The race never resumed after that and finished as on Saturday, behind the pace car under yellow.

Dave Palmer drives through the field to win Round One of the 2011 F1000 Pro Series
Dave Palmer drove his Stohr F1000 through a full field to take the win in the opening round of the 2011 F1000 Pro Series sponsored by Goodyear Racing Tires, Williams Racing Developments, George Dean Racing Engines, with partner sponsors Hyperco, Jongbloed Racing Wheels, Elizabeth Jackson Artwork and Geartronics North America.
Palmer, who had his best qualifying times disallowed for an improper tire change behind the pit wall which would have put him second on the grid, stormed through the field avoiding the carnage from multiple incidents to take the win.
Finishing Second on the track was the Stohr of Rod Rice with Randy Mitchell in his Van Diemen-Novak rounding out the podium in third.
Qualifying
With the weather threatening, the rains stopped and the track drying, the F1000 competitors to ran the first qualifying session of the weekend on Saturday morning where ten of the competitors took to the track. The exceptions were defending race winner JR Osbourne who was sidelined waiting for a suspension replacement part to arrive after one had failed due to vibration issue on the Friday test day and Terry Biner who had decided to sit out the session.
The tricky track conditions made tire selection critical. Most of the cars started the session on wets and found themselves having to look for wet patches on the track as their tires overheated. As the track increasely dried Dave Palmer dove into the pits for a quick change to slicks tires. He was caught out however we the rain returned a couple of laps later and spun at the uphill turn 5.
Palmer was eventually put up a best time of 1:56.652 which would have put him 2nd fastest qualifier but his fastest times were disallowed as he had gone behind the pit wall to change his tires in violation of the rules. The penalty elevated Russ Werner in his Phoenix to second.
It was Gary Hickman that ended up having the trick setup when he had his rain tires turned reducing the amount of tread on his tires. It essentially turned his rain tires into intermediates. The setup proved to be the quickest of the contenders with Hickman taking the unofficial pole at a time of 1:56.209.
Randy Mitchell did well in the changing conditions to take third fastest in his Van Diemen-Novak conversion car. John LaBrie visiting Thunderhill for the first time took fourth quickest, with Rod Rice fifth followed by the Firman's of Mark Belling, Rod Morley and Nicholas Belling.
It was discovered later that the two Bellings Nicholas and Mark Belling had had their transponders one one another's car and both ended up in the session with each of the others qualifying times.
After Friday's test day Kyle Oberndorf discovered a crack in his enigine and with no replacement available it put him out of of the weekend's competition.

RACE
With the rains having blown away the field took the flag under a cloudy sky. Pole sitter Gary Hickman jumped out to an early lead over second qualifier Russ Werner, but back in the JR Osborne after working late into the night replacing his broken front suspension was picking off his competitors like a big game hunter on a relentless charge up to the front. He was followed closely by Dave Palmer who was determined not to lose contact with Osborne.
Lap three saw Osbourne finally make his way to the front, coming up on Russ Werner running in second in the uphill turn nine. After passing Werner with ease Osbourne had Hickman squarely in his his sights overpowering him on the back straight before turn 10. Thereafter he began to pull away from the field.
This left Hickman and Werner to duel it out for second. On the run up to the turn five Eagle's Nest corner on lap eight Werner misjudged his braking and ran up over Hickman's knocking off the engine cover and rear wing. Hickman continued for a short distance before retiring, with Werner finished and already outside of the car up the hill in turn five. The carnage bought out the pace car for several laps to clear the track.
After the pace car pulled off Osbourne began to take off again leaving the remaining F1000 competitors to duke it out for second. Just as it appeared Osbourne would win convincingly a clutch seal blew as he entered turn five which sent up a huge cloud of smoke trailing behind his car.
After Osborne's big bang exit Dave Palmer who had been stealthily working his way through the field trying to keep up with Osbourne took over the lead with Rod Rice running 20 or so car lengths behind followed closely by Mitchell in his Van Dieman FC Novak conversion car. They remained in that order for the remainder of the race taking the checkered flag two laps later.

10th Manufacturer Comes to F1000 Pro Series in 2011

Crowe, who's Hollywood writing credits include "The Last of the Mohicans", "Fear", and "Off Limits" announced today his re-entry into motor sport with the formation of Tapacat Racers, a race car manufacturing firm located in Los Angeles, California.
From the Silver Screen to professional auto racing? "It's not as great a leap as it may sound," Crowe said. "In fact, racing led me to my eventual screenwriting career. I was involved in the sport as a kid, driving SCCA cars back in the Midwest. On graduation from college, I went to work writing for Chris Economaki at National Speed Sport News. Not because I was a writer, really – but more because of my love for race cars. The problem was, I couldn't type. And no one at the paper could read my hand-scrawled race reports. So, to make a long story short, Chris bought me typing lessons, I typed a screenplay and sold it Hollywood – then spent a forty year career there.
When I heard about the F1000 Pro Series I couldn't resist re-involving myself in the sport. So I'm back where it all started – only this time manufacturing race cars instead of driving them. Better for an old man!"
Tapacat Racers is comprised of three primary members, Crowe; former national champion FSAE designer and engineer Bobby Alley of Bakersfield, CA.; and chief fabricator Maxwell Sullivan Crowe, also of Los Angeles.
Their Tapacat F1000 entry is currently being readied for its unveiling sometime in early spring.

Belling Best the Field in Round 12 at Pacific Raceway
May 31, 2010 (Seattle, Wa) – Nicholas Belling showed his mastery in the rain to take victory during round 12 of the 2010 F1000 Pro Series sponsored by Goodyear Racing Tires and Jongbloed Racing Wheels.
Belling dominated the wet qualifying session in his Firman RFR-010 to take pole at a time of 1:28.56, followed closely by Lucian Pancea in his Stohr at 1:28.80. Third on the grid went to David Palmer with a best time of 1:33.87, following him in fourth was Taylor Archer at 1:44.12. Kyle Oberndolf started at the back after having all his qualifying times disallowed with a sound violation.
With the rain falling steadily the race started under wet conditions. As the field came around after lap one the order was Pancea, Oberndorf, Palmer, Belling, and Archer. Belling having fallen down the field after a mis-step in turn three which allowed both Pancea and Oberndorf to get by. He continued to fall back on next lap finishing about fifteen car lengths back from the nose-to-tail duo of Pancea and Oberndorf up front.
On lap four while entering the tricky downhill turn three Pancea lost control under braking and ended up high sided in the dirt on the outside of the turn. The car was deemed to be in too dangerous a location for the safety crew to attend to it which caused the race to be black flagged.
After the car of Pancea was removed the race was restarted with Oberndorf leading Belling, Palmer and Archer. As the F1000 field jockeyed around the other formula type cars in the SCCA group Belling got hung up by slower traffic which allowed Oberndolf to blast off into the lead.
After finally getting around the slower cars Belling took off after Oberndorf, slowly reeling him in which each passing lap. On lap thirteen entering turn 9 Belling made his move, passing Oberndorf for the lead. Belling continue to extend his lead out during the remaining laps to take the win with Oberndorf second. Palmer took third with Archer finishing in forth. Pancea, who managed to take the restart after his car was removed from the dirt in turn three finished last a lap down.

Lucian Pancea Splashes to Victory at Pacific Raceways in Round 11
May 30, 2010 (Seattle, Wa) -Lucian Pancea steered his Stohr F1000 to victory in Round 11 of the 2010 F1000 Pro Series sponsored by Goodyear Racing Tires and Jongbloed Racing Wheels.
The morning qualifying session run on a dry track saw Kyle Oberndorf in his Stohr take pole position with a 1:20.66. Lining up along him was Lucian Pancea in a second Stohr clocking a time of 1:21.08. Nicholas Belling qualified his Firman RFR-010 third with a time of 1:21.39 followed by Taylor Archer 1:22.23 and Dave Palmer 1:22.65.
As the race started under threatening skies lead the field on the first lap with Pancea some four car lengths back, Belling a further five cars lengths behind Pancea followed by Archer and Palmer. Just before half distance the skies finally opened up and the race quickly turned wet. The track remained wet for the remainder of the 20 lap event even after the rain had stopped a couple of laps after it had started.
Pancea immediately took advantage of the wet conditions to pass Oberndorf for the lead making a wide pass through turn eight. As he exited the corner he had already built up a three car lead on Oberndorf. Belling a ways back in third spun in the wet conditions exiting turn eight but managed to resume and managed even to mount a late race challenge to Oberndorf in second before the flag finally decended on his challenge.
Taylor Archer in his first ever F1000 race finished in fourth followed by David Palmer in his Stohr finishing fifth.

Belling's Go 1-2, 1-2, at Buttonwillow
The father and son duo of Mark and Nicholas Belling took turns winning in Round 7 and 8 of the F1000 Pro Series at Buttonwillow Raceway, California
Under blazing skies and warm tempertures which were to prevail throughout the weekend, the Saturday morning qualifying saw the Firman of Nicholas Belling set new FB qualifying track record of 1.45.167 on the Buttonwillow 25, CCW Course. Second in qualifying was Mark Belling in his Firman setting a time of 1.51.594. Gary Hickman in the Edge Engineering entry was an early weekend casualty having suffered a blown engine on Friday and was unable to return due to nagging clutch issues.
Because of the light FB turnout the split start was waved with the FB cars taking their place within the main group of competitors with Nicholas Belling starting 3rd overall and Mark Belling starting 17th overall.
The race ran uneventfully for most of the duration of the 16 lap event until about 2/3's distance when Nicholas Belling was forced to pit with a faulty ECU which left Mark Belling to take the victory. Nicholas Belling went on to finish 2nd and set a new FB race record of 1.46.497.
Sunday's qualifying and race was a near repeat of Saturday's only with the roles reversed in the race as Nicholas Belling took the FB honors. The race was largely uneventful until near the end of the event when it was forced to finish under safety car for an accident amougst the Sports 2000 field.
JR Osborne "Spins and Wins" in Round 6 of the 2010 F1000 Pro Series
JR Osborne repeated his performance from Saturday to win Round 6 of the 2010 F1000 Pro Series at Thunderhill Raceway, California.
Sunday's morning qualifying session saw overcast clouds and cool temperatures. The 20 minute session was plagued by two black flag stoppages that saw many cars in the national group struggle to get heat into their tires. As a result nearly all the drivers had diifficulty getting a clean lap in what was a very brief qualifying session.
Gary Hickman failed to complete a lap in qualifying as he suffered from clutch issues while Nicholas Woodman was forced to start at the back due to sound violation.
The starting order for the race was:
| 1 | JR Osborne, Stohr |
| 2 | Phil De La O, Phoenix |
| 3 | Nicholas Belling, Firman |
| 4 | Russ Werner, Phoenix |
| 5 | Lucian Pancea, Stohr |
| 6 | David Palmer, Stohr |
| 7 | Gary Hickman, Edge |
| 8 | Nicholas Woodman. Stohr |
As on the previous day the FB field took the green flag in a split start approximately 30 seconds after the main field of national competitors. At the first corner Belling managed to scrabble pass De La O for second while Woodman working from the back of the grid advanced as well.
As the cars exited the Eagle's Nest (turn 5) on lap one the order was Osborne, Belling, De La O, Werner, Woodman, Hickman, Pancea, and Palmer. The race was already shaping up to be an interesting one. It was put on hold the following lap as the first of three full course yellows came out for crews to tow in a FE that had stopped on track.
Osborne kept the field at a good 30 seconds back from the main field ahead during this caution period so when the race went green again the pack had clear track ahead of them. As the green came out a hard charging Belling dove in between Osborne and the pitwall and took the lead as the cars headed into turn one. But it all came to tears just yards up the road as Belling spun exiting turn one ending any chances he had of a victory. Woodman following closely behind also spun while attempting to avoid Belling. Both cars were able to resume the race although Belling now with a slight deranged front wing.
As the FB field began to wind their way through the slower cars of the main body ahead the second of the three full course yellows came out. This time one of the CSR's had blown it's engine, leaving a trail of oil from the entry of turn three to the exit of turn five. Dispite the best efforts of the hard working San Francisco Region track crew to clean up the spill it was to play havoc with the field for the remainder of the race.
The race start on lap 9 saw Belling attempting the same pass on Woodman he did on Osborne at the earlier restart with Woodman doing everything he could to keep Belling at bay. The two went at it for most of the lap giving it their all. It all came to grief at turn ten as Belling attempting to pass went off course. He managed to resume however now without a front wing.
Meanwhile, up at the front Osborne manuvered his way through the main field followed closely by De La O. As he exited on the downhill of turn five he ran foul of the oil layed down earlier by the blown engine of the CSR and spun. He quickly recovered to rejoin the race just as De La O was cresting the turn five hill. It would be the closest that De La O would get to taking the race lead and it was a very near thing.
Also working his way through the main field further back was Lucian Pancea completing his first weekend in his new Stohr. Beset with a few teething problems and a slightly nervous car he did well to recover from a quick spin exiting turn one to continue on and finish. David Palmer was another to run foul of the oil at turn five and like Osborne spun on the oil there as well ending his race.
Russ Werner in the Phoenix and Gary Hickman in the Edge resumed their battle from the previous day. This time the battle was for third and the final podium position. As the two raced up to the hill at turn five Werner dived for the inside line forcing Hickman to cede the position. It got worst for Hickman just two corners later as he suffered a right rear wheel failure that sent his Edge into a brutal double 360 spin as it flew off track.
Seconds after Hickman's wild ride was over the final full course yellow came out for multiple stopped cars on the back section of the track with the race ending under the pace car.

JR Osborne Wins Round Five in the F1000 Pro Series at Thunderhill
JR Osborne raced his Stohr FB/F1000 car to victory in Saturday's Round Five of the 2010 F1000 Pro Series. Osborne led throughout the 16 lap event, besting a field of eight cars comprising four different F1000 manufacturers. Nicholas Belling in the Firman took second, with Nicholas Woodman in a Stohr completing the podium in third place.
The race began as the FB field took the green flag in a split start approximately 30 seconds behind the main field of national competitors. But it wasn't long before the leading FB cars caught up to the back half of the main field and began to wind their way through the slower cars.
Belling and Woodman battled for second with Belling running wide into the first corner allowing Woodman to slot into second. On lap two at the notorious turn five Crow's Nest corner Woodman duplicated what Belling did in turn one, went wide, which allowed Belling to get alongside and eventually take second place several corners later. By this time Osborne leading from the start had stretched out a nearly eight second lead. Belling then set off after Osborne eventually reducing the gap to less than a second, where they ran nearly nose to tail for several laps before Osborne was able to use traffic to extend out his lead again.
As Osborne took the flag, Belling was faltering from fuel starvation and evenually ran out of fuel on the front straight just before the finish line, coasting over with the engine completely dead to collect second. Woodman, who was unable to match the speed of the two leaders, ran a lonely third for much of the race. Hickman in the Edge began the race in fourth but suffered from a slow deflating tire which caused him to begin to drop back through the field as others including Delao, Palmer, and Werner improved their positions.
One mid field battle worth watching was the Gary Hickman, Russ Werner dice for sixth. It came to a head as the two came up to lap a couple of back markers on the front straight. With the four cars tightly bunched together and each closely dicing for racing room Hickman was suddenly forced to check up giving Werner a shot at a tight inside line leading into the first corner which allowed him to take the position.
Phil De La O drove a steadily improving race in the Phoenix to finish fourth, with Palmer moving up to fifth and the troubled car of Pancea rounding out the field.
After the race at tech inspection several of the cars came under close examination from the stewards including that of race winner Osborne. After some tense moments the car was deemed legal and the race result stood. Unfortunately for Hickman, he ran foul of the sound restrictions. On the second to last lap his car was deemed to have been over the sound decibel level and was assessed a two lap penalty which dropped him to eighth place.
